Research the Bible with Oxford Biblical Studies Online

This 60 minute workshop will be presented for members of the Duquesne community interested in learning more about the books of the Bible, their historical contexts and meaning. Oxford Biblical Studies Online (OBSO) is a powerful tool to help students, and others with an interest, to more fully understand the Bible. This database contains five translations of the Bible published by Oxford, and study notes from six popular study Bibles. It also provides access to two concordances, a dozen well-respected works of biblical reference, and over 1,000 searchable images.

Through hands-on practice, you will learn:

• How to use the basic Bible verse look up tool
• How to display a study Bible text and its study notes side by side, and how to switch between study Bibles
• How find articles from authoritative reference works on important words, concepts and people mentioned in the biblical text.
• How to search for images, access the timelines and other special features

Date: Friday February 17 from noon till 1 p.m.
Location: 408 Gumberg Library
Presenter: Ted Bergfelt, MLS, Reference and Instruction Librarian
