Using the NEW PubMed Effectively

This hands-on session focuses on effectively using the powerful searching tools in the recently updated PubMed search engine. Any student or faculty member in the health sciences, biology, health care ethics, or any discipline that deals with health matters will benefit from attending. New users will have the opportunity to learn PubMed basics, while experienced users will learn how to construct searches in the new PubMed interface introduced late last fall.

The session will focus on several topics including:

  • Creating searches using new search screens
  • Interpreting search results using new PubMed filters
  • Finding full text articles
  • Accessing free electronic books through PubMed
  • Using Special Queries to facilitate searching
