Lab Consultants Help with F.A.S.T. @ Gumberg

The public computer area on the 4th floor of the Gumberg Library will be staffed with Lab Consultants prepared to answer any questions about Multipass, Email, and other computing issues during F.A.S.T., July 14-17th.

Card Swipe Access to Gumberg Library Begins July 6th

A pilot test for access to the Gumberg Library’s front doors during evening hours will begin Monday, July 6 and run through the end of July. The incoming doors will be locked at 8 p.m. Students, faculty, and staff should use their ID card to swipe in until 10 p.m. Once the card has been swiped, the doors will open automatically.

Library Sidewalk Construction Notice -- Handicap Ramp

The section of the sidewalk from the Handicap ramp on Locust Circle (West) to the seat wall along the plaza entrance will be replaced beginning Monday June 1^st. The work is being done to reduce the cross slope of the sidewalk-the curb height along this section will be the same as the handicap entrance ramp (Aprox: 1”). Users needing accommodations or assistance for access should call Library Circulation, x6130.

Documenting the Impact of Your Scholarship

Description:
The workshop’s goal is to help faculty members make the case for excellence in scholarship by using tools such as citation analysis, impact factors, and other methods. Newer faculty who are just starting to publish can also benefit by using these tools to develop effective publishing strategies. Following the presentation, participants will have hands-on opportunities to use the tools and begin documenting the impact of their own scholarship. The workshop will conclude with a discussion about using scholarship data in the promotion and tenure process.

Library to Open Earlier Starting May 11

In response to numerous suggestions from students as well as comments on the LibQUAL survey, the library will begin opening Monday through Friday at 7:30 a.m., starting May 11, 2009. This is a pilot to determine if opening earlier for the coming academic year is sustainable.
