David Nolfi, Health Sciences Librarian and Library Assessment Coordinator at Gumberg Library, was recently named a Distinguished Member of the Academy ofHealth Information Professionals (AHIP) for a second five-year appointment. The Academy is the Medical Library Association’s peer-reviewed professional development and career recognition credentialing program. Distinguished is the highest level of membership.
Members of the Academy are credentialed as health information professionals by demonstrating their academic preparation, professional experience and professional accomplishments. The academy recognizes the personal investment of time and effort required for exemplary professional performance and for contributions to the association and to medical librarianship as a whole.
In 2013, Nolfi received the Nursing and Allied Health Resources Section Award for Professional Excellence, which is given to one medical librarian annually. He also currently serves as the Chair of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Medical Library Association and on the National Network of Libraries of Medicine Special Advisory Group for Resource and Academic Libraries for the Middle Atlantic Region.
Nolfi has published and presented on a variety of topics include electronic theses and dissertations, health information literacy, library assessment, and university learning outcomes assessment.
Nolfi serves as liaison to Duquesne’s Schools of Nursing, Health Sciences, and Pharmacy. He also co-chairs the University Academic Learning Outcomes Assessment Committee (ALOA) and has been a leader of the Undergraduate and Graduate Alumni Surveys.
